Saturday, May 9th from 10am until 2pm at Ravenstone Games, I will be running Mall Maul. It is a zero level funnel, so I will have plenty of pre gens on hand. Here is the synopsis, "Due to an unfortunate series of events, you and twenty or so of your fellow villagers have volunteered to search a nearby shopping mall. The goal is to bring back enough loot to appease the raiders who are coming to collect the tribute. You have always been warned to stay away from there, but there are no other options. The raiders are coming and take what they want if they are not satisfied by what is offered."
This is a Crawling Under a Broken Moon adventure by the inimitable Reid San Filippo, so there will be plenty of post apocalyptic weirdness going on. Ravenstone is located at 1675 Karl Ct, Columbus Ohio 43229. So come on in and roll some bones, it'll be fun!

Getting ready for Gary Con and points beyond
Ten days until Gary Con VII, and am so excited! Ready to play some games and maybe run a couple of pick up games. As a sort of fill in for Savage Tim Snider, I will endeavor to post on each days events. A sort You Are There set of posts. I will strive for the same high quality that he puts into his reports.
In the "Things I am working on" department, I am working on a DCC science fantasy mini setting. Here is a quick sketch of the pc's base of operations, D'artay's Aerie.
Also, I am planning to run Escape from the Purple Planet at Ravenstone on Sunday, April 12th. So come on in and give it a shot, haha!

Oh look, Thanksgiving is coming up!
Where did the time go? I have been working on my secret NaGa DeMon (National Game Design Month) and time just seems to be move too fast. Today I pause for the 51st anniversary of Doctor Who, happy that I now own a custom Pat Troughton sonic screwdriver. It is a welcome addition to my costume that I hope to improve for next year's Con on the Cob!
Pete Spahn at Barrel Rider Games is running a project through Indie Gogo, a class compendium for Labyrinth Lord. Pete Spahn puts out some great OSR content and this is shaping up to be amazing. Five dollars gets you a pdf of the compendium, and ten gets you that and extra pdf's. Check it out here. This upcoming year, I would love to run Dwimmermount at my flgs (Ravenstone), and in addition to the standard pregens, I may have some from the aforementioned compendium. More on that in the time leading up to the new year.
Well, take care and see you all later!

| Being black and white, the color of his sonic isn't clear, so I went with red. Pretty spiffy, eh? |

New Doctor Who
First off, Capaldi is amazing. Second, this new season has me wanting to run some more DW:AiTaS. Whenever I watch the show, I am always looking for new technobabble that I can use. My flgs has the limited edition rulebook from cubicle 7, and I am debating whether to pick it up and get rid of my old David Tenant set. I am such a hoarder that sometimes I need to stop and put things in perspective, and the new hardback is shiny, ooh. Here it is...
Maybe I could run some more games of it at Ravenstone, open table sort of thing. *sigh* wish there was more time in the world, oh well. See you all later!
By the way, let me know what you all think of the new series of Doctor Who!

Here we go again....
Lately many things have kept me busy, one of those being my illustrations. Whether it is for a fanzine or my own personal use, I have been stretching my artistic muscles and remembering how fun it is to create something visually. For my upcoming Crawljammer DCC game I drew a lizardman that my wife incorporated into flyer for the store.
Collaborating on these with her makes it even better, and we have been together long enough that we sync pretty well. I am going to run a zero level funnel using Reid San Filippo's "Mall Maul" from Crawling Under a Broken Moon #3, and I am finishing up a flyer for that one as well.
Reminder, September 27th 12:30 at Ravenstone Games (Columbus, Ohio) I will be running the Bat Men of Venus level 1 adventure from Crawljammer #1. No experience necessary, pre gens will be provided. Looking forward to seeing some new faces there as well as familiar ones! Take care, until next time.

Ye Gods, I am back!!
The month of August was a crazy time, Gen Con kind of did me in and then I had to send one of my spawn off to college. The RPG a Day fell by the wayside, my rpg experiences do not seem to fit some of those questions. Well now I am back and you will be hearing from me a bit more often. There is still more about Gen Con and my upcoming DCC rpg games I am running! As of now I have a game scheduled for Saturday September 27th, 12:30 at Ravenstone Games in Columbus, Ohio. Be there or be rhomboid.
This is the flyer heralding my game, I drew the lizardman, but my wonderful wife put it all together! Classy, eh?

Free RPG Day: Elzemon and I
This would have been posted earlier, but I took a nap. Priorities, what are you gonna do, eh? Got to Ravenstone an hour early to get set up for the game. Savage Afterworld's Tim Snider had stopped by earlier, had to return home. Ultimately I had three players who picked from amongst the pre gens Goodman Games provided, and at 2:15 (giving any late arrivals a chance to get in on the game) they began their trek to retrieve the blood drinking box. Talonir the Warrior, Ziwdang the Wizard and Ahlrick the Cleric! They decided to purchase a donkey to help carry the box back to town. Unfortunately throughout the expedition, they were plagued by crappy rolls on their part and shortly after the halfway mark, the wizard got dropped. I allowed him to be revived by being force fed a healing potion, since he was at zero. At the final "encounter", though the die rolls seemed to rally to the cause, the dice betrayed them once again. Naturally the wizard was the first to fall, followed by the cleric. The warrior held on a bit longer, but like his fellows succumbed to grievous wounds.
Despite my having killed off their characters, they had fun and are looking forward to future events. I am crossing my fingers that there will be more folks joining in to give DCC and other games a try. Gaming is more than D&D and Pathfinder, right? In addition to running the DCC adventure, I picked up James Raagi's Doom-Cave of the Crystal-Headed Children. It has some fun ideas behind it, though I have only read the first part of it. I like it when I see something that takes a different path, and boy is it different! Enough of this, I am running another DCC game tomorrow so I am signing off. Take care all!

Origins 2014 is nearly here!!
Starting this Wednesday, Origins 2014! I have nothing planned, but I am hoping to get some games in when I get there, most likely me running them in the open gaming area. I will bring my Mutant Future adventure as well as Labyrinth Lord and Dungeon Crawl Classics. Speaking of DCC I have my game Wednesday evening, since there typically is not much scheduled for that evening at the con. It most likely will be relocated to the con itself instead of Ravenstone, though. If any of you will be attending, let me know. I am often curious about those that read my posts. There are already a number of friends that I know are attending, hopefully we can make an event out of it! Enough of that, let's get this week started so I can get to the con, hehe!

Disappointment Today
So, only one person showed up to today's DCC game, and he carpooled with me. I am disappointed but I am still going forward with my plans for the next two games. Fall down six times, get up seven is my mantra at the moment.
June 11th at 6, that is the Wednesday of Origins. Traditionally nothing really happens that night, so hopefully there will be folks wanting to get started early with their rpg playing. I am planning to run it at Ravenstone but it can be moved to the convention if necessary. The next game I am scheduling is for Sunday June 22nd, 1:30 at Ravenstone. There is a sign up sheet for both games and if you wish to play, you can let me know in the comments. Currently I don't believe the game is on until I have the right number of players at the table. I advertise these games with various Google + communities Twitter, and Facebook as well as sign up sheets. Is there an avenue that I am missing? Later.

Quick post about my Memorial Day game
So Monday, May 26th at 3:00 PM. in Ravenstone Games, Columbus Ohio I will be running a game of Dungeon Crawl Classics. It will be a 0 level funnel and I am typing up the setting on Obsidian Portal here. I am calling it Black Temple of the Ravening Gods and I hope it plays as cool as that sounds. Any interested parties should leave a comment stating they are interested in playing. Otherwise, you will all hear about it on the other side!

New Campaign
I started a new campaign on Obsidian Portal, called Black Temple of the Ravening Gods. I want to run it with DCC to emphasize the weird darkness I hope to bring to it. I have used it once before when I was running my 4E game, there should be at least one map soon. I like the wiki aspect where I can add stuff/edit/link various things, and then I can look at what I have and smooth it out. Memorial day weekend is when I hope to run the first adventure in this world I am building, and it will be a joint effort, I will just lay the foundation like I did my 4E game. Anyone out there that is in the Columbus area that wants to play, let me know. I am hoping to run it at Ravenstone, but I have backup locations just in case. Take care all!

Upcoming DCC at Ravenstone! Plus my Appendix N
Next month, I plan to run DCC at Ravenstone games, Wednesday (@ 6:00) and Saturday the 21st (Free RPG Day @ 1:00) I am also hoping to play some DCC at Origins. In addition to that, I have been listening to an excellent podcast focusing on DCC called Spellburn. Give it a shot, their passion lies in DCC but they occasionally bring up other games, usually in a "this is cool." or "how can I use/convert this to DCC" Wonderful stuff.
Moving onto my next topic, during an episode of Spellburn, a listener sent an e-mail full of questions and the one that stuck out to me was what is each of the hosts Appendix N? That got me thinking about if I ran DCC, what would I draw from to build my campaign world? After some careful consideration I have four main things. The first is Robert Howard's Conan, for the savagery and how dangerous and corrupting magic can be. Then Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy, for the mythology that's seems to exist there with creepy ghost kids speaking through photos and disturbing visuals. Clive Barker for the horror fantasy vibe going through his stories, especially looking at my favorite explorers in agony and ecstasy- cenobites! Finally I would pull stuff from Adventure Time, with it's Ice King, talking dog Jake, and a candy kingdom. Sheer poetry, friends.
So, what is your personal Appendix N/ What do you think of mine? Let's hear some feedback. Take care everyone!

Today's Gamer Action
So today was the spring GGO picnic/reason to get together, play games and grill. GGO is the Gamers Guild of Ohio and we had an out of town member who was back in town (that does not sound right) so we met up at the local park. Unfortunately it was so windy we were unable to play, much less eat as food was getting blown off the tables. Finally we decided to adjourn to nearby Ravenstone to play some of the games people brought along. When I arrived at the store, there was a group getting ready to play Sentinels of the Multiverse, Paperback, and I think there was a few people in the back playing backgammon. I decided to sit out and work on my wilderness map, and play around with my d30s I had just picked up.
As you can see, in addition to the two dice, I picked up two Reaper pre paints and a Pathfinder undead figure. Towards the end, after the one group finished Sentinels four of them played the Amazing Labyrinth, at least that is how it was spelled on the box. All in all it was great time, with good food and friends. Hope you all had a decent May fourth, and take care!

Mutant Future this Sunday!!
Five days until my Mutant Future game and boy am I excited! I am looking at a few creatures from Rafael Chandler's Teratic Tome to throw at the players. I recently backed his Lusus Naturae Kickstarter and received pdfs of his previous work. The Tome may have been written for fantasy but it is twisted enough to serve in a sci-fantasy capacity. Awesome stuff in there, as well as his other stuff, go and check it out. Be warned though, it is not for the faint of heart.
As I have said before, if you want to play and have nothing better to do then come on over to Ravenstone Games this Sunday at 1:00. See you later!

Scheduling April's game
I dropped the ball setting up my game for April, so here it is. Mutant Future!! If you like Gamma World, crazy post apocalyptic stuff, then give it a shot. I guess living nearby helps, too. Sunday, April 27th at 1:00 PM, Ravenstone Games. I will be rolling some pre gens for everyone, the artless pdf is free, just go to this page and click core rules. That way you can check out the rules, and if you have a tablet or some such device, you can have your own set of the rules. Kind of a try it before you buy it type thing. I am in the the middle of setting the adventure up, elbow deep in it's guts as it were. Take care everyone!!

Yesterday's Labyrinth Lord game
What looked like a game with six people playing dropped down to two. The two were amenable with playing an extra character, so we went ahead. A nature god worshiping cleric, Tree hugging elf, stout dwarf, and a thief had been charged by their patron (they all "worked" for the same fellow) to go to the town of Latham and check on Braagi, a druid who had gone missing recently.
Arriving at the town they went to work asking questions and trying to help the locals. It was spring but instead of blooming the local flora had begun to wither, there were loud noises coming from the forest and no one had seen or heard from Braagi. All this occurred or started around two weeks ago. They asked for directions to the druid's domicile and a young man named Dolby offered to show them there and even hold a torch for them in the dark of the forest, for a nominal fee of course.
Arriving at Braagi's hut they found it was wrecked! Eventually they figured out that a large creature had reached in and grabbed the druid and carried him deeper into the forest. Further investigation revealed his notebook with recent entries regarding a tribe of wild men from the dark heart of the forest. they worshiped chaotic forest spirits and normally stayed deep in the forest but in recent weeks had moved closer to Braagi and Latham!
They returned to the village to get some rest and question the locals about these wild folk. Thankfully I had my little rumor chart I had made up, they heard about little men with poison arrows, the wild men themselves, and a section of the woods that had been twisted and warped. Obviously that was where they should go! So off they went, with Dolby showing the way.
They reached an area where the earth had been gouged away, created a hole in the ground that was guarded by an ogre (they came in the opposite side from where the wood imps and their spiders were) They employed some good tactics and took him rather quickly. The thief climbed down a rope into the hole and scouted around. To one side there was an encampment of wild men, and the other side was a rope bridge leading to a worship area. He overheard some of the men speaking of a new forest spirit who was more "hands on", so to speak. He returned and let them know what the situation was.
They all went down, Dolby was to stay with the horse he brought, and they crossed the bridge and knocked out guards as they went. When they came to the worship area they found Braagi, suspended from the cavern ceiling and tied (by tree roots extending down) to a long, thin stone spar that seemed to be draining his life. The thief climbed up and dislodged the stone and grabbed the druid. The stone hit the altar below, shattering into several pieces. They ran back to the bridge in time for the "forest spirit" (a young adult green dragon) to roar his disapproval and fly away. I ended it this way as we were running a little long and I was getting hungry.
Everyone had fun and hopefully we can do it again soon. Today's March Maps is going to come out later tonight, just to let you all know. Take care everyone!

Getting ready for Sunday's game
Here is a preview of what the pc's will be up against this Sunday.
Originally I wanted to have a picture for all of the different "things" they would be dealing with, but alas, it was not to be. I have my GM screen ready, just need to finish up pre gens and print some blanks in case someone wants to roll up a character. I really looking forward to it. Bye for now!
