Gary Con, day three

So today we started with sausage gravy and biscuits, it is a certainty I will return home fat. Norhing scheduled, so I took my time getting into the con. Managed to catch the end of the What's New From Goodman Games. So the have the license to put out Fritz Lieber Lankhmar stuff, as well as Jim Ward's Epsilon City for Metamorphosis Alpha. Definitely some cool stuff coming.
Coming out of the seminar, I saw JV West and Reid San Filippo, and after talking about how we each had nothing scheduled, Reid volunteered to run a little Crawling Under a Broken Moon.

We ended  up with six people playing and Reid ran a Christmas themed adventure, totally fun. Once again I played the luchador. That is how awesome the class is! Afterwards I swung through the dealer's room again, picked up some more awesome stuff which you all will hear about later. My friends were done for the day, so we left and had a late lunch at Culvers once again.

A couple of hours later, I returned to the con. Basically hung out with my friends in the bar, while my friend joined the group he played with to accept the AD&D first edition open championship. It was fun drawing with Brian Thomas, but all good things come to an end. Before I left, Luke Gygax did stop by to talk to one of the guys sitting at our table.

Tomorrow we will be trying to get on the road quickly, with only a few things to get done before leaving. The post will come at the end of the night. Later, and take care folks!

Kickstarters and you

I love Kickstarter, but recently I had a strange revelation. I got my copy of Weird Wars Rome from Pinnacle Games and did not have the urge run out and run it. Part of it could be my recent run of Savage Worlds games that have fallen through (probably a large part) but a part of it I think is the time between the end of the Kickstarter and when you get the product. I did receive the pdf for WWR, which I glanced through and then forgot about, so it was not like I had nothing until receiving  the package. Just sometimes that gap is enough to let the mood slip by.

Which leads me to my real issue. Goodman Games Metamorphosis Alpha. Oversize hardback reprint of the original product with additional material from Jim Ward himself. The first pledge levels are about posters, dice bags, and adventure modules. To get the book you plunk down eighty dollars, which it is worth that I am sure, but why not throw in a pdf somewhere in the lower echelons. In the video from Gary Con they state that you can pick up the pdf, I am alright with that but to get the notes, magazine articles and extras from Mr. Ward and company, I am stuck with the hardback. Enough of that, let's move on.

Mobile Frame Zero 002: Alpha Bandit is in it's final week, fully funded and ready to go. If I had the cash to throw around, I would go all in, maybe I will dip my toe in. Next in line we have Guild of Shadows, a thieves guild campaign for Savage Worlds. It looks pretty cool, something for those players who want to be in an all thieves guild game. I would be tempted to use information from the book in conjunction with the main rules, so that any thieves or swindlers in the party can do something on the side.
A little something to check out and think about, happy Saturday folks!

Some more great people to meet at Origins 2013

So I mentioned Kenson and Urbach last time since they are Guests of Honor, well here are some who may not be guests, but are some fantastic individuals.

Starting off is Jamie Chambers and Signal Fire Studios, who have brought Metamorphosis Alpha (by the inimitable Jim Ward) back to the masses. Other offerings include Building an Elder God and Pantheon. Jamie Chambers helped create the cortex system behind the Serenity rpg by Margaret Weis Productions. So definitely check out the his booth.

Heather Kreiter will once again be in attendance, bringing her My Little Demon deliciousness along with the rest of her work which includes Legend of the 5 Rings and Vampire: the Eternal Struggle. An expert with markers, as well as oil paints, she is also an accomplished taxidermist. Well worth stopping by her booth to admire her work, you wont regret it.

Rounding us out is the wonderfully weird, Andy Hopp. He currently has a kickstarter to update his Low Life rpg and bring it back to the masses bigger and shinier than ever. Andy's work has appeared in many places, from the Bestiary of Loerem to Alphabeast Soup. His style is off the wall at times, but is always amazing, so please stop by and say howdy.

That is it for now, take care and have fun at the con!
